Stylish Ways To Make Space In A Small Bathroom

08:37

Working with a small bathroom is already tough, and doing so in a smart, stylish way is even more so, but it’s far from impossible. With a few specific changes and a shift in your organization, your small bathroom can open up into a brand new space. Here are a few ideas to make the most of a tiny bathroom.

1. Opt for a Wall-Mounted Sink with Storage Below

Traditional vanities, usually a brick of a piece containing the sink, counter space, and cabinet storage underneath, can dominate a small bathroom, making the space feel cramped. A wall-mounted sink, on the other hand, keeps the floor clear and creates an open, airy feel. You do lose storage space this way, but you can make up for it by placing baskets, bins, or a short shelving unit underneath. This also lets you have more room for styling as these baskets and shelves can be chosen to fit your aesthetic!

2. Use Oversized Mirrors with Integrated Lighting

In small spaces, mirrors are your best friend. Go for a larger mirror than you might think necessary, it’ll reflect light and visually expand the room. For added function, choose a mirror with built-in lighting. This eliminates the need for bulky overhead lights or additional fixtures while creating a sleek, modernized look. You can also consider mirrors with unique shapes, such as rounded edges or geometric designs, or a fun frame to bring more personality.

3. Install Vertical Towel Racks or Pegs

Horizontal towel racks take up valuable wall space in a small bathroom. Instead, install vertical racks or minimalist pegs that let you hang multiple towels in a compact area. This not only saves room, but also keeps things more cleaner. Towels dropped and left on the floor will make the space seem smaller, after all. For a decorative touch, use towels in colors or patterns that match the bathroom, adding a soft layer of styling.

4. Choose Glass or Crittall-Style Shower Partition

Opaque shower curtains can feel like they’re cutting a small bathroom in half, making it feel even smaller. Frameless glass partitions or slim Crittall-style dividers are much better choices. They keep the room visually open while adding a clean, modern aesthetic. Of course, this is a bigger renovation project that might not be feasible, so if you have to stick with a shower curtain, stay light or even try something transparent. You’ll be surprised at how much it opens the space.

5. Add Multifunctional Niches and Recessed Shelve

In a small bathroom, every inch counts. Instead of relying on freestanding storage units, see if you can incorporate niches or recessed shelves into the walls. These can be used to store toiletries, folded towels, or decorative items like candles or small plants. To make these features pop, consider using a contrasting tile or paint in the recesses. This creates a small yet interesting highlight while keeping the space organized and uncluttered

There are plenty of ways, both big and small, that you can transform your bathroom into a place that not only feels larger, but more stylish and organized too. It can be something as simple as changing your shower curtain all the way to getting a new sink, so no matter where you’re starting from, you always have a step you can take toward the bathroom of your dreams.
